The Project

Founded in 1952, KTEL is the primary intercity public transport bus service in Greece. A cooperation of 62 regional bus companies, KTEL provides 80% of all inter regional passenger transportation in the country. The project aimed at augmenting the KTEL mobile application with targeted advertising to build a more connected transit experience.

What We Did

Geofencing to deliver timely, targeted messaging in-transit

We established geofence perimeters at 440 locations across Greece, paired ths with the travel operator’s mobile application and a cloud-based account for real-time analytics. The set up allowed KTEL to send text or push notifications on an opt-in basis to mobile devices that entered or left the defined area. The campaign’s airm was to drive customers to drive and scale engagement with local businesses, so our team optimised by targeting audiences based on location and behavioural attributes.
